Hearing and Recognizing His Voice
In 2013, there is such an urgency for us to be able to hear and recognize God’s voice. It is more important for me to recognize and hear God’s voice and the sounds of heaven than anything else at this time.
As we began to spend more time with them, they learned our voices and faces, and we learned the sounds of their cries and what they needed. They began to trust that we would provide what they had need of. There were times when they would be crying and nothing would soothe them except that one voice singing “Jesus Love Me.” The calming sound of that one voice would cause them to stop crying. Why? Because they had heard that voice before they could ever see the face and they knew it. They knew that if they made a certain sound we would make sure they were dry, that they had food, or were held.
But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
I am a grandmother to three wonderful and unique grandchildren. Though the circumstances of each one’s birth were different, one thing was the same. We started talking to each of these little babies while their moms carried them. Even before birth, they began to respond to things we would do. Their moms would read to them, and we would sing and talk to them. After they were born, these little ones would hear our voices and they would recognize us. They didn't know who we were or what face and voice went together, but they still recognized our voices.
That is just like our God. As a new baby in Christ, we have to learn to identify His voice and His voice only. It takes time for us to be able to know the difference between God's voice and the enemy's voice. The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy, but God comes to give us life and give it more abundantly. As we begin to grow in the Lord, we begin to know our Shepherd’s voice and recognize His voice only. We can't be led astray by the stranger (or the enemy). How can we get to that place? We do it by spending time in the Word of God, reading and meditating upon it, along with praying and praising our Savior. Equally important, we must be quiet before Him so He can talk to us and give us direction for our lives. He can give us peace, joy, comfort, understanding, wisdom, and guidance, and so much more.
Be still, and know that I am God:
In these times we live in, we truly need to be able to hear God's voice for all these things. As we begin to listen and hear His voice and obey Him, we will begin to grow more in Him. The more I seek Him, the more I love Him. No one can do you like Jesus. If we are faithful in a few things He will make us rulers over many. First, we must be able to hear and recognize His voice. Listening and obeying God may be the answer to your prayers that have not yet been fulfilled. Sometimes our obedience is the legs for our prayers.
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
